Check Lock and Event Log

Two devices cannot change the same check at the same time. The device that opens the check first becomes the editor; the second device stays in watch mode and sees who is working on it. So that nobody stays locked out, the watcher can press 'Take over' to take the editing; every takeover is written to the audit record. The lock is tied to the device, not the person: a check that the same person left open on two screens is also a real source of mistakes, so both cannot write. The lock applies in the till, waiter and manager panels. Each check's 'who did what' log opens from the till and the waiter screen: opening, items added, item cancellations and price changes, payments, table moves, takeovers and closing, in one chronological list with who did each. The check and till screen is included in the Pro plan.

How It Works

  1. 1

    Open the Check

The device that opens the check first becomes the editor.

  2. 2

    The Second Device Watches

A second device that opens the same check stays in watch mode and sees who is working on it.

  3. 3

    Take Over if Needed

The watcher presses 'Take over'; editing passes to them and the takeover is recorded.

  4. 4

    Read the Log

Open the check's 'who did what' log from the till or the waiter screen.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if two cashiers write to the same table at once?

They cannot. The first device to open it edits, the second stays in watch mode and can take over with one tap; the takeover is recorded.

Where do I see who did what on a check?

In the check's event log: it opens from the till and the waiter screen and lists the actions with who did them.

Is the lock tied to a person or a device?

To the device. A check the same person left open on two screens would also clash, so both cannot write.
