Parked Checks — Awaiting Payment
Parking a check is how Genu takes a check whose payment wasn't taken, or isn't certain, off the table and tracks it separately until it is collected. The cashier taps “Park” on the check; the table frees up and the check moves to the red Parked tab at the till. The parked amount stays out of that day's collections, so the cash in the till and the end-of-day report stay consistent. When the guest pays, the check is collected by cash, card, meal card, customer account or as a comp, partially if needed, and recorded on the day it is collected as a collection from parked checks. A check that can't be collected is written off with a reason. Parked checks appear on the Attention line of the end-of-day report, in the manager panel and as a warning on the business dashboard. On a till with Genu Desktop, checks can be parked even when the internet is down.
