Genu Desktop — POS App for Windows
Genu Desktop is Genu's cashier app installed on a Windows cashier PC; it opens the POS full screen and frameless, runs the thermal printers and keeps sales going when the internet drops. After installation it pairs with your venue using a 6-digit code from the panel. The interface is built for touch screens, and for older square POS monitors (1024×768, 1280×1024) the screen scales between 0.8× and 2×. From the system tray it prints to ESC/POS printers over USB, network or as a Windows printer, sends kitchen tickets to stations and writes totals to the customer display. Print jobs are held in a local queue and are not lost if the PC or the internet goes down. When the connection drops, orders, payments and end of day carry on at the till and sync to the cloud once it returns. New versions install themselves while the till is idle.

Frequently asked questions
What computer does Genu Desktop run on?
Windows cashier PCs. Touch-screen POS machines and older square monitors are supported; no special hardware needed.
Will the screen fit my old 1024×768 POS monitor?
Yes. The screen scale can be set between 0.8× and 2×, so buttons stay easy to use on older square monitors.
Can I use the POS without Genu Desktop?
Yes, the cashier screen also opens in the browser. Genu Desktop is needed for thermal printing, offline operation and the customer display.
Will an update interrupt service?
No. Updates install while the till is idle; if it's in use the cashier is asked, and the update waits while a payment or print is in progress.
