What Is an Adisyon (Bill)? What Does POS Software Do? (2026 Guide)
An adisyon is the bill document that holds the orders a table (or a takeaway customer) has placed and the amount due, in a restaurant, cafe or bar. The waiter writes the order on it, the kitchen and bar prepare from its lines, and the cashier closes the tab from it. In everyday Turkish the word covers both the paper document and the software that does the job: 'adisyon programı', 'adisyon sistemi' and 'adisyon uygulaması' mean the same thing.
This guide explains what the word means, the move from paper to digital, what bill/POS software does and how an order flows from the table to the end of the day. It then briefly covers cloud, local and hybrid, the free-software question and what to check when choosing. Sister pages go deeper: restaurant bill/POS software, cafe bill/POS software.

Is something missing or wrong?
What does adisyon mean?
An adisyon is an itemised statement of a tab. It opens when the table opens; tea, food and dessert are added to it as they are ordered; when the customer asks for the bill, its total is paid and it closes. A table can have several adisyons (split bills) or two tables' adisyons can be merged.
An adisyon does not replace a tax document (invoice, cash-register receipt); it is the venue's internal record. The official sales document is issued separately according to the venue's obligations.
From paper bills to bill/POS software
With a paper pad the waiter writes the order by hand, passes the slip or the words to the kitchen and adds up the total on a calculator at the till. Four problems appear in a busy service: the handwriting is unreadable, the order never reaches the kitchen or reaches it twice, the total is wrong, and reconstructing what each table paid at the end of the day takes hours.
- Paper bill: the order is handwritten, the kitchen works from a slip or a spoken order, the end-of-day total is added up by hand.
- Bill/POS software: the order is entered from a phone or the cashier, appears on the kitchen display and receipt printer by itself, payment is recorded and the end-of-day report is produced automatically.
- The difference: the same information is entered once; waiter, kitchen and cashier see the same record. Revenue, cancellations and the payment-method breakdown are not added up by hand afterwards.
What is bill/POS software and what does it do?
Bill/POS software keeps the open tabs of the tables, routes the order to the right station, records the payment and closes revenue and the till at the end of the day. The product and price list, staff permissions, discounts and comps, bill splitting, payment methods such as meal cards, and reports are part of it. For the wider definition that includes hardware and QR ordering, see the restaurant POS system guide.
| The venue's question | What the software answers |
|---|---|
| What is on which table? | Table map and open bills; table states are shown live. |
| What will the kitchen prepare? | The order appears on the matching station's display and receipt printer. |
| How much is the bill and how was it paid? | Bill total; cash, card, meal card, split payment, discount and comp. |
| What did we sell today and does the till balance? | End-of-day (Z) report: sales, cancellations and payment-method breakdown, cash count. |
How an order flows through bill/POS software
- 1. The table opens and a bill is created. The waiter enters the order at the table from a phone or at the cashier; an order coming in by QR goes through waiter approval.
- 2. The kitchen ticket prints. The order appears on the relevant station's display and receipt printer; food and drinks are split between stations.
- 3. Items are added. Extra orders are written to the same bill; the table can be moved or merged if needed.
- 4. The cashier closes the tab. The cashier sees the total and takes payment in cash, by card, meal card or split payment; the bill closes.
- 5. End of day. The Z report closes sales, cancellations, the payment-method breakdown and the till.
In Genu each step of this flow is its own screen: the waiter's phone, the cashier screen, the kitchen display and the management panel. Details: cashier and bills, waiter terminal, kitchen display, end-of-day report.
Cloud, local and hybrid: what is the difference?
Cloud bill software runs its data on servers on the internet and opens in the browser; local software runs on the computer at the cashier; hybrid software runs in the cloud and keeps selling during an outage through an app installed at the cashier. The deciding question: if the internet drops in a busy service, can I open a new table, take payment and close the bill? For the three architectures side by side and the outage test see cloud, local and hybrid POS and POS that works offline.
Is there free bill/POS software?
Yes; some products offer a free core tier. The scope of such tiers is usually limited: modules, staff count, offline selling or support may be paid, and some earn their revenue from order commission. Before using one, check two things: does the free part cover your real service flow (kitchen ticket, split payment, end of day), and what is the total cost once you move to paid. What to check when choosing bill/POS software
- Selling continues when the internet drops: not just viewing open bills, but new orders, payment and closing.
- Printer and Turkish characters: does the kitchen ticket print 'ş, ğ, İ' correctly; test with your own printer.
- Waiter device: is your own phone enough, or is a separate handheld required.
- Bill splitting and payment methods: split payment, meal cards, house accounts.
- End of day: are sales after midnight written to the correct day.
- Price model: yearly or monthly, VAT included or not, are extra modules and hardware included.

Frequently asked questions
What is an adisyon?
An adisyon is the bill document that holds a table's or customer's orders and the amount due, line by line. The waiter writes the order on it, the kitchen prepares from it and the cashier closes the tab from it. It does not replace an official sales document; it is the venue's internal record.
What is adisyon programı (bill/POS software)?
Software that keeps the tables' open tabs, passes orders to the kitchen, records payment and closes revenue and the till at the end of the day. 'Adisyon sistemi' and 'adisyon uygulaması' mean the same thing in everyday Turkish.
What does bill/POS software do?
Instead of writing orders on paper and carrying them to the kitchen by hand, it keeps one record: waiter, kitchen and cashier see the same bill. Bill splitting, discounts, comps, payment methods and the end-of-day report are done in the same software.
Which is the best adisyon programı?
There is no single right answer; it depends on the venue's priorities for outages, hardware, payment methods and budget. Selling continuing when the internet drops, printer and Turkish characters, the waiter device and the price model decide most choices. See the how-to-choose guide for criteria and the best-POS page for products by category.
What free bill/POS programs are there?
Some products offer a free core tier; the scope can be limited and some earn their revenue from order commission. Test with your own menu whether the free part covers the kitchen ticket, split payment and end of day. Genu has no free plan; its 30-day trial requires no credit card.
How much does Adisyo cost per month?
Adisyo's official price page lists its packages yearly and excluding VAT: Lite TRY 12,500, Standart TRY 18,500, Pro TRY 25,800 + VAT (yearly); features such as QR menu are added as separate monthly modules. Rely on Adisyo's own price page for current amounts; a package-by-package comparison is on the Genu vs Adisyo page.
Does cloud bill software work when the internet is down?
Only in cloud programs that run in the browser is selling tied to the connection. Hybrid programs keep selling during an outage through an app installed at the cashier; in Genu that app is Genu Desktop (Pro plan).
What hardware does bill/POS software need?
Most venues need a Windows cashier computer, an ESC/POS thermal printer and phones for the waiters. In Genu the waiter screen runs in the phone browser; no separate handheld is required.
Does bill/POS software replace a cash register?
No. It manages the order and the tab; the official sales document is issued separately according to the venue's obligations. Cash-register (ÖKC) integration is on Genu's roadmap.
