Inventory, Recipe and Product Cost Management

In Genu, inventory is driven by the sale itself. You define the ingredient recipe, with quantities, for every menu item; when a check closes, ingredients are deducted across every channel — dine-in, takeaway, delivery and counter — and the cost of that sale is recorded. Each item's cost (food cost) and gross margin are calculated from moving-average costing. An item whose ingredient runs out is marked sold out automatically and returns when stock is received. Goods receipts (supplier, delivery note/invoice number, purchase price), counts and waste all write to a single ledger, and reports cover stock value, period consumption, per-item margin and supplier spend. Ingredients below their critical level trigger an alert and a suggested order grouped by supplier. Inventory and recipes are included in the Premium, Pro and Enterprise plans.

Highlights

  • Recipe-based deduction: when a check closes, the recipe's ingredients leave stock.
  • The same deduction across every channel, including dine-in, delivery, pickup and counter.
  • Goods received, stock counts and waste in one stock ledger.
  • Alerts for ingredients that fall to their critical level.
  • Cost and profit margin reported for every item.
  • Product cost (food cost) and margin: calculated from the recipe and reported per item.
  • Goods receipts record supplier, delivery note/invoice number and purchase price; supplier spend is reported.

How It Works

  1. 1

    Create stock cards

Define ingredients with units, supplier and critical level.

  2. 2

    Write recipes

Set how much of each ingredient goes into every menu item.

  3. 3

    Sell and track

Stock deducts as checks close and cost of goods is written to the session.

  4. 4

    Count and report

Compare theoretical against actual and read margin item by item.

Frequently asked questions

Does stock go down automatically when an item sells?

Yes. If the item has a recipe, its ingredients are deducted from stock when the check closes.

Can I see how much profit each item makes?

Yes. With cost calculated from the recipe, each item's cost and profit margin is shown per item.

How do I record waste?

Enter it as a waste movement in the stock ledger; stock counts compare theoretical and actual stock.

Which plan includes inventory?

All of Premium, Pro and Enterprise. Pro includes everything in Premium.

Can I define recipes and gram quantities?

Yes. Each menu item gets its ingredients with quantities, plus extra ingredients per option (for example extra cheese).
