Happy Hour — Automatic Discounts by Time
Happy Hour rules are defined by day and time window, as a percentage or a fixed amount, for the whole menu, for selected categories or for selected items. Excluded items, rule priority and a season start/end date are supported; a venue can hold up to 50 rules. The discount is visible to the guest in the menu and is applied automatically to QR, waiter, till, pickup and delivery orders; the till prices with the same rules even during an internet outage. The cashier never has to key in a discount by hand. It does not stack with the student price: whichever is lower at that moment applies. If an item has a separate pickup or delivery price, Happy Hour is calculated on top of that price. The Genu Marketing assistant can also suggest Happy Hour; it sets up a rule only with your approval.

Frequently asked questions
Does the cashier have to enter Happy Hour by hand?
No. The discount is applied to the order automatically when its time comes, the same way for QR, waiter, till, pickup and delivery orders.
Do Happy Hour and the student discount stack?
No. Whichever gives the lower price at that moment is the one applied.
Does Happy Hour work when the internet is down?
At the till, yes. A till running Genu Desktop prices with the Happy Hour rules during an outage too.
Can I leave some items out?
Yes. Even if a rule covers the whole menu you can exclude the items you want.
